ATAWAS Receives Certificate of Legitimacy and Credibility, Validating Its Existence and Impact

ATAWAS is proud to announce that it has been awarded a Certificate of Legitimacy and Credibility by the Legitimacy Centre Africa, following an in-depth evaluation of the organization’s existence and impact.

This prestigious award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of ATAWAS’s stakeholders, members, and water utilities in Tanzania, without whom the organization would not be possible. ATAWAS’s members are the backbone of the organization, and their continued support is what allows ATAWAS to carry out its mission of promoting access to safe and sustainable water and sanitation services for all.

ATAWAS is grateful for the recognition bestowed upon it by the Legitimacy Centre Africa, and is committed to continuing to serve its members and the Tanzanian water and sanitation sector with excellence.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Association are to build capacity of water supply and sanitation providers to be able to offer adequate, affordable and sustainable services; to promote networking among stakeholders in the water
and sanitation sectors; and to mobilize resources for the development and management of water resources, water supply and sanitation services.

The main objectives of establishing ATAWAS includes promotion of forums for water suppliers for improvement of water supply and sanitation in Tanzania, coordination and search for knowledge of best practices to share with members for improvement of social economic well being of Tanzanian population, initiate and encourage any action of co-operation and exchange in professional training among members and promote contacts and cordial relationship among individual or corporate bodies involved in water resources, water supplies and sanitation in the country.

The Association plays an important role in providing networking, advocacy and lobbying for conducive policies and legislations, logistics and outreach programs to its members with keen focus on empowering them to effectively deliver their services to their customers and the public in general.

We provide a platform for water sector Stakeholders to be able to communicate and share knowledge, technology, challenges and opportunities so as to promote growth in the Sector.

Information Resource

We play role of being a center for information on issues concerning the water sector by collecting information from different water stakeholders and share them through our website and other communication platforms.

Research and Development

We co-ordinate the search for knowledge by partnering with different stakeholders to collect data in the areas of water resources, water production, water supply and sanitation.

Capacity Development

We co-ordinate trainings and other capacity building programs by partnering with different organisations to enhance the capacity of water supply and sanitation providers to be able to offer adequate, affordable and sustainable services.

Resource Mobilisation

We facilitate resources for the development and management of water supply and sanitation services in order to promote, establish and maintain a fund for investment in water production, water supply and sanitation services among our members.

Project Stearing

We collaborate with our members on various projects that bring solutions to the Water and sanitation sector.
