THE 7 th TANZANIA ANNUAL WATER CONFERENCE (AWAC 2019)

ATAWAS  in  collaboration  with  the  Ministry  of  Land  Housing  Water  and  Energy  (MLHWE–
Zanzibar),  Zanzibar  Water  Authority  (ZAWA)  and  Development  Partners  is  organising  the
seventh  Annual  Water  Conference  and  Exhibitions  (AWAC  -2019)  to  be  held  in  Zanzibar
(Unguja) from 19th- 21th November 2019. The conference theme is  “Transforming Water and
Sanitation Services through Digitalization”.
  The conference will bring together stakeholders
of  various professions  to discuss how water resources, water supply and sanit ation services in
Tanzania can be improved by using the modern technologies: Digit alization, Internet of Things
and  ICT.  Conference  participants  will  include: Water  &  sanitation  Professionals,  Suppliers  o f
water  &  IT  services/equipment,  Training  &  Research  Institutions,  Policy  Makers,  Projects
Managers and Private sectors.


Parallel to the conference presentations, skills competition and exhibition of different types of
equipment,  instruments,  materials  and  services  for  the  water  and  sanitation  sector  will  be
staged.  The  main  outcome  of  AWAC-2019  will  be  presented  to  relevant  institutions  for
implementation.

Abstract

Abstract Submission Guidelines


The  7th Annual Water  Conference  (AWAC)  2019  with  the  theme  “Transforming  Water  and
Sanitation Services Through Digitalization”
  welcomes the submission of abstracts for subsectors of water resources, water supply, sanitation and hygiene in the following areas:


●  Sub theme 1: Digital Governance
●  Sub theme 2: Digital Technology and Infrastructure
●  Sub theme 3: Financing Instruments


All abstract authors are asked to choose one subtheme during the submission process.

Call for Abstracts
We encourage work that introduces new ideas and concepts, research and its implementation
and its usefulness to the society. Please read the following guidelines carefully before
submitting your abstract:
●  Abstracts in word should be submitted via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
●  All abstracts must be written in English.
●  It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Any errors in spelling,
grammar or scientific fact in the abstract text will be reproduced as typed by the author.
Submitting your Abstract
AWAC 2019 reserves the right to reject or alter abstracts based on, but not limited to, the
following criteria:
●  Abstracts do not comply with style guidelines, including excessive length (contributed
abstract body text is limited to approximately 300 words)
●  Abstracts contain inappropriate content, e.g. graph, pictures, etc.
●  Abstracts fall outside of the topical scope of the meeting
Abstract Deadline
●  Abstract deadlines are strictly observed. Only abstracts received by the published
deadline, 15th September 2019 are guaranteed acceptance into the regular program.
●  Abstracts submitted after the abstract deadline—post deadline abstracts—may be
placed in poster sessions; a space will be provided at the venue.
Session Presentations
●  Oral presentations of contributed abstracts are usually ten minutes for presentation and
five minutes for questions.
Poster Sessions
Authors of abstracts assigned to poster sessions should make sure that the title and content of
their posters correspond to the title and content of the abstract submitted; which will be printed
in the Book of abstract.
●  Poster boards are AO (90cm wide x 120cm high)
●  When designing your poster, remember that attendees may be viewing it from a distance
beyond 3 feet.
●  Stay with your poster during author attendance times.
Abstract Review Process:
A panel of experts will review the abstracts. Each abstract will be reviewed by at least three
different reviewers.

 

●  Abstracts may be selected for
o  oral presentation
o  poster presentation
o  rejection
●  The first / presenting author will receive a confirmation of acceptance for oral
presentation, poster presentation, or rejection, by e-mail before 30
th
September, 2019.
●  The best abstracts will be selected for an oral presentation at the conference.
●  Authors of abstracts selected for an oral presentation will be informed about the type and
date of the session and presentation guidelines will be provided.
●  Poster presenters will be informed about the date of the poster session and will receive
guidelines for their presentation.
●  All accepted abstracts will be published in the abstract book.
