The Fifth (5) Summit of the National Multi-Sectoral Stakeholders Forum on Water Resources Management and Development

The Ministry of Water in collaboration with the Institute of 2030 Water Resources Group, Global Water Partnership Tanzania and the Embassy of Canada are organizing the Fifth (5) Summit of the National Multi-Sectoral Stakeholders Forum on Water Resources Management and Development to be held on 18 June 2022 at the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) Conference Hall, in Dar es Salaam.

The main purpose of this Conference is to implement the resolutions of the Fourth (4) Conference; approving the Terms of Reference for working groups as well as launching the Platform Strategic Plan; exchanging international experiences on how best to engage the various sectors in the management and development of water resources; discuss various strategies and ways to raise funds for managing and developing water resources.

This year’s motto is: “The Value of Water – Contribution of Water Resources to the National Economy”

The origins of the establishment of the platform stem from various challenges arising from the unsatisfactory coordination of various sectors and institutions, the dramatic increase in water demand as well as climate change. In addition, the establishment of these platforms is to increase the participation of stakeholders, especially the Private Sector and Development Partners, in the management of water resources set by policy and legislation (National Water Policy, 2002 and the Water Resources Management Act No. 11 of in 2009) in implementing the Concept of Integrated Water Resources Management.

The Fifth (5) Meeting of the Forum will be held on June 18, 2022 from 3:00 am at the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) Conference Hall, Dar es Salaam and the Official Guest will be the Minister of Water, Hon. Jumaa Aweso (Mb).

The meeting will be preceded by a Forum Steering Committee meeting and a Working Groups meeting which will be held on June 17, 2022 and prepare an action plan for the implementation of the year 2022/2033. About 230 water resource stakeholders from Government Ministries and Institutions, Non-Governmental Institutions, Private Sector, Development Stakeholders, Universities and Research Institutions are expected to participate in this conference.
